Moul Votes in Support of State Budget
July 12, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Dan Moul (R-Adams) released the following statement after the House of Representatives approved the 2026-27 state budget:
“The budget I voted in support of reflects efforts by Republicans in the House and Senate to reduce the governor’s $53.26 billion spending request to a responsible $50.85 billion plan that better aligns with the Commonwealth’s fiscal realities. The spending increase over last year’s budget stands at 2% and is in line with the natural cost increases associated with operating state government.
“No budget is perfect, but this agreement is a step in the right direction. I supported this budget because it preserves Pennsylvania’s Rainy Day Fund and avoids broad-based tax increases. We were able to reach an agreement on the budget without legalizing marijuana, while preserving the Educational Improvement Tax Credit and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit programs.
“Thankfully, revenue this year was $1.14 billion more than expected and $2.52 billion more than the 2024-25 fiscal year. That is the result of Republican initiatives, such as historic permitting reform, investments in career and technical training, leaving the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and meaningful welfare reforms, included in last year’s budget.
“Going forward, we must remain committed to responsible budgeting that protects taxpayers, lives within our means and keeps Pennsylvania on stable financial footing.”
